What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a plain-text file you place at the root of your domain (like robots.txt) that describes your business and lists the most useful pages for AI assistants to read. The format is a simple Markdown document with an H1 title, a one-line description, optional metadata, an About section, and a Pages section with linked URLs and short descriptions.

When an AI assistant or AI-powered search engine crawls your domain, llms.txt gives it a curated map of your most important content - far cheaper to ingest than crawling every page, and far more accurate than guessing what matters.

How to install it

  1. 1. Click Download .txt above to save llms.txt.
  2. 2. Upload it to the root of your domain so it serves at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt with content type text/plain.
  3. 3. Optional but recommended: also publish a markdown twin per important page (a route at /md/<slug> serving the same content as Markdown) so assistants can fetch clean text.
  4. 4. Verify by opening https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt in a browser - it should render as plain text, not HTML.
